Getting Cost Of Folder
We're going to give each of our customers a folder in a bucket, we need to get the exact cost of each folder so we can charge the customers exactly what they used. Is this do-able through this service? -Sam
While it might be possible to sift through our reports to derive that information, you might be better off building a custom piece of software to do this for you. As much as I hate to turn away business, I feel compelled to give the following advice: In general, it's probably best to avoid basing your entire billing system on a 3rd party service that's charging you $5/month.

I have needs similar to Sam.I have somewhat of an image host site that serves a small audience with certain interests, of which 90% of the users will not use any significant bandwidth. So I'm currently looking for a solution to measure the monthly bandwidth of the first-level-deep folders of my S3 bucket.I know I shouldn't base my entire billing system on a $5/mo third party... but consider this: My current billing system is "free unlimited bandwidth for all users because I can't measure S3." I'd much rather go with anything, because I have nothing to lose. I'd gladly pay S3STAT more per month or even a one-time fee to work out a custom solution for me.I need to get the running download size total for the current month of http://s3cdn.example.com/user123/someimage.jpg And be able to automatically log how much user123 has used so I can limit and bill accordingly.I know I kinda re-explained and re-asked after you said no... but I'd like to re-ask while ignoring any risks involved.

I think there's a need to supplement the Webalizer reports with a few extra views that relate better to using Cloudfront as a CDN for media hosting. One of those reports would track a handful of individual files in much greater detail, and allow you to slice the data down to a level that would be useful for use cases such as yours. It's on the roadmap, but at this point you can safely assume it's a ways off. I'll keep you posted when we start making progress in this area.
